User Preferences

Overview

Use User Preferences to define individual preferences for the current user. The user must exit the System and log back on for the changes to take effect.

Setting Up User Preferences

Select Administration | Setup | User Preferences. User Preferences appears, displaying the General tab.

Detail Line Data Entry Options

These options specify behavior in the financial transaction entry screens that contain a detail grid through which you create detail lines for the document:

Click to select the Automatic Save or Submit check box if you want the System to save detail lines automatically when the user tabs past the last column in the detail line.

Click to select the Automatic New check box if you want the System to open a new detail line automatically when the user tabs past the last column in the detail line.

Click to select the Automatic Open check box if you want the System to open the detail line automatically when the user moves the pointer to the detail of a main screen.

Tasks Options

These options specify preferences about items sent to the My Tasks list. You can select to have task list notifications sent to your email address and define how long items remain in your Sent and Delete items lists.

In Receive Tasks In, select how you want to receive tasks that other users send to you by using Send . The valid options include the following:

Task List Only – tasks appear in the My Tasks list

Task List and Email – tasks appear in the My Tasks list and are sent to an email address

In Email Address, specify the email address to which the My Tasks list items are forwarded. This is required if you select Task List and Email in Receive Tasks.

In Remove Sent Items after XXX days, specify the number of days that items sent from the My Tasks list are kept in the Sent Items folder.

In Remove Deleted Items after XXX days, specify the number of days that items deleted from the My Tasks list are kept in the Deleted Items folder.

Password Options

To reset your password, type a new password in both Password and Confirm Password.

Other Options

Click to select the Display Lookup Row Limit Warning check box if you want the System to display a message that indicates that the lookup will return more rows than the value specified in Lookup Maximum Rows Returned in Business System Options. After the message appears in a screen, the user can click OK or request that all rows be returned.

Click to select the Prompt to Save User Preference Changes check box if you want the System to ask whether you want to save your user preferences when you make any changes to a screens’ appearance, such as moving or re-sizing columns or changing the location of a pop-up window.

Spell Check Options is disabled and not used currently.

Reporting Options

Click to select the Notify me when my archive reports are about to expire check box if you want the System to send a notification to the user’s My Task list. Timing of when the notification is sent is based on the value stored in Archive Expiration Warning in Business System Options.

Click to select the Show detailed exception information with report errors check box if you want to have detailed exception information included in a report error. Currently not used.

Click Save to save the changes. Then, close User Preferences.
