Task Definitions

Overview

Use Task Definitions to define work breakdown structure values (task values) that you can use throughout the project screens. Define the characteristics (Task Caption, Task Component Size, Default Task Value) of the Task ID values in Project Policies.

Creating Task Definitions

Select Projects | Setup | Task Definitions.

In Component, type the component number in which you can use the task value. The component number(s) in the dropdown list are limited to those numbers (1, 2, 3, or 4) that have a Task Component value greater than zero (0) in the Task Component Size area in Project Policies. The combination of this component value and the task value must form a unique combination value.

In Task, type the description of the task. The maximum number of characters is limited to the related Task Component Size that you defined for the component in the Task Component Size area of Project Policies. These values are used to populate the Task Component 1-4 dropdown lists on the Task tab in Project.

Click Save and New, or click Save and then click New, to save the current task definition and start adding the next.
